This shyt was so dumb but I couldn't fully hate it. Of course like every Paul WS Anderson video game movie it arbitrarily picks parts from the games, then spends 80% of the movie doing something completely else. It takes at least an hour to get to a movie that somewhat resembles something like what a full-fledged Monster Hunter movie should feel like, then after 15 minutes it's over and back to the other shyt again. There's actually some solid action pieces in here although of course Anderson wouldn't know how to shoot good action even if George Miller's soul took over his body.
Naturally the movie features TI and Meagan Good as marines and Ron Perlman sporting the most ridiculous anime wig I've ever seen answering the age old question on everybody's minds... 'What if Cloud Stryfe had an ugly ass uncle?'
And of course they also have the cat chef in it without any context whatsoever as if the movie wasn't lacking in common sense enough already.
The most baffling thing about the whole ordeal is that despite Anderson never seeming to improve as a storyteller or a director the film does look high budget as fukk despite the reported budget being like $60 million. I guess that's the quality that makes studios work with him because for all his creative flaws the man is incredibly cost-effective in an industry notorious for wasting money.
I can hate on his lack of talent but I can't hate on his hustle.

Probably because Corona numbers have been going down again after the second wave hit early October and most movie theaters operate at acceptable capacity. In Asia it is largely back to normal, in Europe it depends on the country. I just read that Germany is closing movie theaters down again causing WW84 to be delayed there now so it really could change depending on the measures each country takes and when.
If you look at Tenet's numbers it is clear American box office is dead right now but internationally there is still money to be made
