still :yeshrug: you're right but in no way, in my opinion, can we file that under a 'career mistake'. call his integrity into question but i dont think youre putting the right label on it, at least as far as what the rest of the responses have been

Breh if they spent 170 on it and only made by 20 or 30 or even 100, that's a loss. If I spent 170 on it I need the movie to make 340 so I can break even and recoup what I spent then I need it to make in the 400-500 range so I can really get some return on investment. They didn't even make back what they spent on it

you usually want to make double your investment that did not happen here but to say the producers took a loss is disingenuous.

But the studio didn't make its money back breh that's what I'm saying. It's not disingenuous at all
made back it's budget and it prob covered the cost of the ads. It was not the summer blockbuster they were expecting at all but it was not a complete loss. unless they spent 100 million on marketing.

What I'm saying is this breh..if I spent 170 to make it..and maybe 30 mil in its marketing budget, maybe, I'm guessing it was probably higher though because 30 mil for a marketing budget of a big movie is kinda slim but still 30 mill brings it to 200 million. If the movie overall only made 220 million, that means I only made 20 million back on my initial investment. I didn't recoup, I lost money. The movie needed to make 340 to recoup and put the project in the black but if I spent 200 million and only make back 20, I'm in the red

:russ: true but even then, spending 30 million on your marketing is on the low side of things for a big budget hollywood movie. I think I'm being generous by saying it's 30. We're talking marketing tie-ins, commercials during certain times and in all of the major markets along with fly over states. DC, NY, and LA alone can eat up 30 million in order to advertise.

EW did a story on how it went over budget actually and cost more than 200 and Business Insider has it at 241
