and Tip's verse....nikka wasn't even rapping about liquor and it was still :wow: with the fashion references

Tommy Hil was my nikka, and others couldn't figure
How me and Hilfiger used to move through with vigor

Had to sit and plan on how to make these seven figures
Said a Brinks is coming through, at Fashion Avenue
At Tuesday at two, now we gotta form a crew
Of motherfukkers, who ain't going out like suckers

Told me call Karl Kani, and all my other brothers
I told my sister Walker, who was the smoothest talker

Negotiate the deal with them other money stalkers
Diesel drove the the beemer, the hatchback of course
Nautica'll navigate to keep us on course
Polo's acting bolo trying to say he the Boss
I said shut the fukk up, the kid is out with the loot sack
Got a big trey pound, itching just to swoop back
Timb is on the roof with the twelve gauge rifle
Scope is on the top so you know he living Eiffel
Took the aim of Oswald, caught him North in the Face
All them other kids they had they tools aimed at space
Levi had the snub so you know they getting laced
Donna Karan was crying, cause mad shells was flying
Damn all we want is a piece of the pie and
Nike scooped the sacks cause he moves like Air
Threw them shyts up in the trunk now we up out here
Got back to the mansion, to divvy up the paper
Helly Hansen was the brain of the whole entire caper
So she felt it was right, for her to get the whole slice
Everybody in the crew didn't think it was nice
I guess not, and Guess was hot, so guess what
Guess took the jigga, and jigged her in the gut

P was the king of opening lines man.

"I put my lifetime in between the paper's lines."
"There's a war goin on outside..."
"I break bread, ribs, nundred dollar bills..."
"I used to be in love with this bytch named E&J..."
"My empire strikes with the strength of poisonous snakes"

Too many to count.

P is definitely one of the GOATs of opening lines. In fact, he's the rapper that made me pay attention to strong opening lines.

and Havoc > Kanye easily

It used to be my least favorite because it wasn't as dark and I thought it stood out, but I love it. Those horns man. It's crazy, when you say worst on the album, I mean even the worst song on here is a 4.5/5 IMO. Also they were even kind of ahead of Common in terms of using a woman as a metaphor for something.

I would NEVER one star a Mobb Deep thread. That would be sinful.
I could forgive someone for doing that...if the Hennessy had them not knowing how to act...

I've always said that havoc is as underrated as he is, mostly because he never really produced for anyone outside of the little Mobb/Queensbridge circle (basically just Mobb, IM3, Noyd, CNN, Nas, 'Mega) until the mid 00's. I remember him doing Last Day for Biggie/LOX and that Foxy Brown joint "The Promise" but not much else. That Xzibit Eyes May Shine Remix.

Even then it was mostly LOX solo joints like Kiss' Why, and then stuff for G-Unit here and there. I think I remember hearing Curtis and my favorite beat on there was definitely the Havoc one (that Curtis 187) without me even needing to read the credits.

When you hear the Shook Ones sample flip, or Survival of the Fittest sample? That took 20 years to find? And Hav didn't even remember what he sampled? For a kid to do that so young? Genius, man. I'm pretty sure most of the Hell On Earth samples didn't even get cleared because most of them are still unknown.

I could listen to those videos of the samples being created day in and day out.

Hav the GOAT. :banderas:

There's no way you could convince me that society isn't on the verge of collapse and that we all aren't going to die immediately when that beat is playing. :merchant:
Nas captured that feeling perfectly :ahh:
And to think...that beat wouldn't have existed but for the fact that they didn't have $ to clear the loop of that Al Green record, so Hav got on his shyt and chopped it up (and god knows what else).
Hav sees his beats in colors. :wtf:
I don't know what that means...because I'm not a musical genius. :banderas:
