I had the cassette first too. The first time I heard Up North Trip :lawd:

Wait, I had the cassette and I thought it didn't have Up North trip on it?

:ohhh:

Man, now that I remember, 9th Wonder had a fire remix to Quiet Storm with the same sample as Up North Trip.

EDIT: Maybe not same sample, but still dope.

P was the king of opening lines man.

"I put my lifetime in between the paper's lines."
"There's a war goin on outside..."
"I break bread, ribs, nundred dollar bills..."
"I used to be in love with this bytch named E&J..."
"My empire strikes with the strength of poisonous snakes"

Too many to count.

You know this culture is lost when someone like Kanye is held in higher regard as a musician than Havoc.

I've always said that havoc is as underrated as he is, mostly because he never really produced for anyone outside of the little Mobb/Queensbridge circle (basically just Mobb, IM3, Noyd, CNN, Nas, 'Mega) until the mid 00's. I remember him doing Last Day for Biggie/LOX and that Foxy Brown joint "The Promise" but not much else. That Xzibit Eyes May Shine Remix.

Even then it was mostly LOX solo joints like Kiss' Why, and then stuff for G-Unit here and there. I think I remember hearing Curtis and my favorite beat on there was definitely the Havoc one (that Curtis 187) without me even needing to read the credits.

When you hear the Shook Ones sample flip, or Survival of the Fittest sample? That took 20 years to find? And Hav didn't even remember what he sampled? For a kid to do that so young? Genius, man. I'm pretty sure most of the Hell On Earth samples didn't even get cleared because most of them are still unknown.
