There's no need for Dre to flip his samples. You don't mess with perfection.

Have obviously needed to do what he did to get things to sound right to him.

Neither is right or wrong.
Yup...one thing I learned when making beats is when you discover a sample, roll with whatever it is that caught your ear in the first place. Don't try to be a mad scientist. if it's necessary to get the loop sounding right (Cuz some things sound good on their own but awkward looped) or get it to what you envisioned then sure, but you can't worry about impressing nerds on WhoSampled lol

Speaking from experience, what I imagine Hav was doing with this and SHook Ones was playing the loop on his ASR at different keys and just seeing what worked until he found something he liked. He was probably like, "I like this piano melody, but I need something to fill in the end of the loop :jbhmm:" and that's where the other pitches came in

Hav might be the best ever at changing the pitch to make things unrecognizable. This is real similar to what we did on Eye For An Eye and Shook Ones 2
That Shook Ones 2 sample is the most mind blowing sample flip I’ve ever come across. How in the fukk? :scust:
True definition of making something outta nothing. That’s hip hop at work.

Some good points here but often it's about not wanting to be on WhoSampled AT ALL or in a lawsuit OR having to pay for the sample etc.

Then there's producers (like hav) that have their own sound/vision and take the sample in that direction, Taking shyt from MJ, Willie Hutch, Al Green etc. and making it sound sinister.

People think producers flip samples based on some sort of honor code where using a loop is beneath them.

Hav liked what he heard but something wasn't working so he had to make adjustments to create a clean loop.

You might have a bar and a half but vocals come in the next half bar so you have to find another half bar piece to complete your loop.

Holy fukking shyt.

How do you even think to pitch down each individual chop like that, and then put em together so clean.

This is crazy.

OP ain't at fault here, the YouTuber is

Havoc an underrated rapper/producer for some reason. I wish there was a way sampling can be done without so much red tape

Nice! I'm a huge crate guy. I'm huge into 70's prog and library music. It is superior.

This came out 50 years ago! Crazy.
