Cutting through the rich Midtown neighborhoods I seen more Atl United flags hanging from houses than I’ve seen from the Falcons Braves and Hawks in the last 10 years combined. The inner city of Atl is mostly white. If by “inner city” you mean black kids, it would be nice but honestly they don’t have to. It was tons of Spanish kids (not just Mexicans) that were there and excited. I would love to see more American black kids involved in soccer, but right now blk youth is more into basketball then football
Yup.

ATL UTD support is HEAVY.

East Atlanta, Buckhead/Sandy Springs got Founders signs all over the place, especially the East Atlanta Grant Park area. Felt like I was about to the game the last time I was out there :pachaha:

how is this team so successful so quickly in atlanta of all places? where did this support come from? am i misreading atl's demographics?
Either you understand Atlanta or you dont

But yeah, ATL has deserved this for a long time.

Its a combination of a renewed growth in the city and the loss of that hockey team that rubbed people the wrong way.

Oh and the demographics are ripe for it. Tons of suburbs with kids growing up playing it but no real pro team to celebrate. Very diverse neighborhoods that also celebrate it.

Theres ATL UTD flags everywhere

A lot of carpetbaggers and people of European descent can associate with European football as opposed to American. And they got plenty of money and ain't scared of blacks

the Braves left the city, which created a void over the summer. I think that also rubbed some people wrong and they made it a point to support the MLS team.

In addition to what others have already said about the City having the right demographics for Soccer. Our youth teams kill it.

Soccer is a perfect dynamic for a warm weather city. Games are fairly short, and when you put them in the heart of downtown it makes for a fun/easy day out at the match.

I went to my frist match the weekend before last and it was lit. It was my first soccer match ever too. I gotta get a Martinez jersey lol. Buddy balled out and had 3 goals. The atmosphere was fun as hell. I did not know Atlanta supported the team that much. I can walk to the stadium, so I'm definitely going to more matches.
