I was reading an article a few days ago about baseball players avoiding groundballs and actively looking to get hits in the air and it instantly reminded me of basketball and its move to 3 pointers and dumping the midrange.

I don't know if its a conspiracy but a league trying to bring more excitement is always going change things through indirect means.
This. When baseball went full analytics those statictions said hitting the ball in the air was better. Now instead of a downswing motion that most of us learned playing baseball went to a slightly upswing

Every time in baseball history when there is an uptick in runs or homers people cry about the balls being juiced.

I mean, the balls are being juiced. The seams are virtually non existent. There have been physicists who've verified the change in ball. AAA which is using the MLB ball has already eclipsed the number of HRs they had all of last season in July.

Correlation is not causation.
A lot of factors can explain more runs.
The ball being juiced is the oldest corniest scapegoat in baseball.

Ball probably changed in some ways but I think the focus on hitting hr probably has more to do with it.
