You know you were a GOAT when you started in the MLB past your prime, and Joe DiMmaggio is saying you're the best pitcher he's ever faced.:wow:.

Midnight Rider.:banderas:.

Satchel Paige threw nothing but fastballs. Nothing. Oh, he named them different names—Bat Dodger, Midnight Rider, Midnight Creeper, Jump Ball, Trouble Ball—but essentially they were all fastballs. And he was still unhittable for the better part of 15 years. One pitch. It's a lot like Mariano Rivera, except he wasn't doing it for one inning at a time. He was pitching complete games day after day. That had to be some kind of incredible fastball. ... [he was] perhaps the most precise pitcher in baseball history—he threw ludicrously hard. And he also threw hundreds and hundreds of innings.

MLB Announces It Is Elevating Negro Leagues to 'Major League' Status

“All of us who love baseball have long known that the Negro Leagues produced many of our game’s best players, innovations, and triumphs against a backdrop of injustice,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. “We are now grateful to count the players of the Negro Leagues where they belong: as major leaguers within the official historical record.”

Greatest Pitcher to walk the Earth, Satchel Paige:

Before we accept, it has to be known why. Why would they MLB do this? When did baseball of all sports give a damn about black ppl? Serious question, when did black lives matter?

This feels extremely like a publicity stunt. Is it???

Before you go they including records, who cares if it doesn't surpass the quote/unquote white players who benefits just by having the opportunity to play a full career. So how do they prove they're serious? Let's see them dollars, do they get included in a major league pension? Do they share in revenue when they start including these teams in say baseball games, think of the advertising, THINK OF THE MERCHANDISE!!! And yes, every sport is hemorrhaging money due to covid.

To them, this is a necessary evil. Who will benefit from this. Watch as they parade a few players or their offspring to a few stadiums. Might even slip them a good 10 stacks. For $100k they can make it look like they really care :mjpls:

But do they????

Satchel Paige finally getting his due:wow:

Knew he was a great pitcher but didn't know of his history with the Negro Leagues. I think he played for the Dodgers right? Or maybe another MLB team, not too sure. Just know he was one of the best. Good that the Negro Leagues are getting some shine. Hopefully this helps get more black especially ADOS players in the league cuz I know the percentage was low thru the recent years.

Now this is significant. Wonder how these "purists" :mjpls: are gonna react to this.

Might have some upset like anything but I think not as much. More and more of the purist are getting old or passing on and a lot of the younger generation wasn't raised on the negro leagues or know much about it. Would be good to have some added history to the game. When did the negro leagues end? Was it before Jackie Robinson joined the Dodgers?
