We heading to a future where all our online entertainment gonna be from like 4 companies

READ UP ON THE PALLADIUM INITIATIVE. IT WAS BIRTH WITH THE CONCEPT OF ALL MEDIA BEING CONTROLLED BY A FEW ENTITIES. MICROSOFT HAS BEEN ABOUT THE CONSOLIDATION OF ALL MEDIA SINCE WINDOWS 2K. XBOX LIVE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE END RESULT BUT TOO MANY PLATFORMS HIT THE MARKET AND DELAYED THE PROCESS.

MICROSOFT DOESN'T HOLD ON TO ANYTHING THAT IS LOSING MONEY. MIXER IS OFF TO THE MS GRAVEYARD.
Gamepass is a loss leader important to future strategy.

I’d assumed Mixer/streaming fell under the same umbrella, especially with all those exclusivity deals.

Mixer was actually good. Microsoft hardly did anything beyond primarily focusing it on XBOX.

Those contracts reeked of Ballmer like decision making. Pissing away money for names and not doing much else for the platform.

When Twitch was getting dragged in the press they weren't pumping out anything to even help gain users.

Just dumb management. Should have been a major thorn in Twitch's side and here we are dead. That low latency streaming technology was wonderful and it too probably goes to the grave.

The IG streaming instant gaming msft is planning on doing with xcloud is pretty future forward. All these kids do is watch other ppl play games. Might as well make them be able to play the game at that very instant. No hard ware required.

Wasn't that the pitch for stadia. Watch a YouTube stream then click a link below to launch the game instantly.

I still don't think there are tons of people who want to stream halo or tlou.

It’s messed up but this is the truth for anyone putting their content on a platform they don’t own. If you’re doing your job correctly, you should be able to bring your following to whatever platform has the most users. That’s smart business to begin with. If they were good on mixer they’ll be good elsewhere. It’s more a headache having to start from 0 than anything else...even though they technically won’t be starting from 0. People will recognize the name and follow again.
If your a new streamer it’s always best to start on the most stable platform which is twitch.
