The whole defund the police movement makes no sense. The right will spin it as that the protestors want anarchy in the streets. The two things that need to focused on is to end qualified immunity and bust police unions. That’s where the attention should be on. Ending qualified immunity would make it easier to sue individual police officers that violate your civil rights. This will bring the threat of financial ruin to officers to not abuse their authority. And police unions are powerful organizations across this country. Best thing to do is weaken them. Also there is has to be an independent board that investigates the police.

The question was about defunding the police, which means that the police will not recieve tax paying money. Police are considered a public service jobs, just like teachers. The protesters are basically saying why am I paying for police to killed me.

Defunding does not mean disbanding.

That would open the door to private security firms like Blackwater, who changed their name to Academi, who founder isErik Prince, who is Betsy DeVos brother. That is a much bigger issue

Breh shut up if the police won’t allow big sweeping reform ( which the unions won’t allow ) then funds ( all or some) need to be diverted from them and put towards social programs which can help bring about change in areas of high poverty and crime . In terms of law enforcement they can come up with alternative means
