So, less funding means the cops on the beat are less likely to shoot black unarmed black people?

:patrice:

It means that they have less resources to keep targeting Black communities, because more money goes to Black communities. So Black communities start to do self services. Power is based on economy, so capital punishment is most effective. This is one step in the reformation. The reason why they targeted to Black communities is because of poverty and having no power.

How does defunding the police reduce the chances of them killing black people?

:lupe:

So I think this is a sincere question, but to be honest kinda of think it is a bit facetious but I have time so I will answer it.

When you have the ability to affect the money of individuals their behaviour instantly changes. The primary reason why police can get away with shyt is their is no repercussion for their actions.

It's a simple think, anyone crosses the line everyone pensions get touched!

I’m wondering if being inside as a result of the virus not only allowed ppl to watch the video but forced them to have to process what they witnessed made this resonate so much more...there were so many distractions when life was normal...which would allow ppl to just go about their day and push this to the side...but w/ everything coming to a standstill I can’t help but feel that this forced a lot of ppl to look @ something they’ve turned a blind eye to for a long ass time

this is weird. the mayor who’s been on the side of the people is booed when he said he can’t support the full abolition on the police. did the crowd really expect him to say “yea, no more police:cool:”? why did the crowd “boo” that ?

the police need reform. they need at the minimum 2year degrees and courses heavy in ethics and sociology. they need to do away with internal investigations and create a board of city residents who review when cops get reported by local citizens. these police unions are too strong as well amongst other things.

on the other hand...if Frey wouldve just said “I fully support the demilitarization of police and allocating those funds to other causes” he would’ve been good.

that whole situation was awkward.

The question was about defunding the police, which means that the police will not recieve tax paying money. Police are considered a public service jobs, just like teachers. The protesters are basically saying why am I paying for police to killed me.

Defunding does not mean disbanding.

That would open the door to private security firms like Blackwater, who changed their name to Academi, who founder isErik Prince, who is Betsy DeVos brother. That is a much bigger issue

I understand this, but why when the mayor said he does not support the full abolition of police did the crowd boo?

I guess he should’ve answered the question straight up like he did with the news crew immediately after he was kicked out . I timestamped.
