Normally I'd be concerned about the chance of a conviction by them upping it from 3rd to 2nd degree. I had a friend killed by a cop and the cop walked because our state charged with 2nd degree murder instead of manslaughter (we don't have 3rd degree murder here.)Keep telling yourself that especially if they introduce the MN autopsy report which showed he had fentanyl and meth in his system. This isn't a chess move. Ellison is playing tic tac toe. Minneapolis will burn to the ground if he walks.

I can't lie and say I'm not a little bit concerned still.
But I think there's tremendous political and social pressure to convict this guy. I think anyone in their right mind on a jury is going to be scared for their own personal safety if they come back with a not-guilty verdict or if they remain split long enough to cause a hung jury.
The country might not even stop burning for a while as is. This is nothing compared to what will happen if Chauvin walks. I agree that 3rd degree murder would obviously be easier to convict one, but I think there's enough societal pressure to convict this guy. The prosecution is going throw everything they can to make an example out of this guy, and any half-intelligent jury member is going to vote guilty out of self-preservation. Like, I can straight up see jury members getting doxxed, death-threatened, or even physically assaulted in the aftermath of a not-guilty verdict.
Woods is a POSjames fukking woods too
I agree. I'm also expecting that. But depending on how the next 30 days go I don't even think it really matters where they try this guy. If this country continues to be in the state it is for a few more weeks I think anyone anywhere will feel pressure to convict. His attorney will argue that he's being railroaded and won't be able to get a fair trial in Minneapolis-St. Paul and will ask for a change of venue.
And after all that Drew Brees came out and doubled down on stating he will never agree with anyone disrespecting the flagLast night ALL 50 states in America protested in support of George Floyd! And against anti-black racism and police violence.
