It really depends on how much money you were born into and how solid your family was/is. We are one of the worst countries in the world in terms of economic inequality. Even though we don't have blatant racism -mainly because up until 5 years ago, immigration was basically non existent- the system ravages the middle class (we are also one of the worst countries in therms of mental health) and treats the lower class (which is fukking huge) like cannon fodder for everything.

We've lived under a mirage of prosperity that basically made the 10% live amazing and the 1% become mindbogglingly rich in a 25 year span, while the rest had to fight for scraps and get drowned in debt or just live miserably for the rest of their lives. There's an in between were you can have a good/verygood life without having been born in privilege (that's were I'm at) but it's very, very frail and 1 strike of bad luck can fukk it all up and leave you with very little chances of going back to that level.

The fact that our neighbors are usually living a more fukked up situation than we are made us look (and in some cases feel) better than we actually were, it was also a big reason why immigration grew so much too. A good number of immigrant basically go :francis: once they get here and realize what's up, the rest came from such a bad situation that as a 1st generation they are :ehh: about it (not sure how their kids and grandkids will feel if shyt doesn't change here though).

The last decade has basically destroyed all that perception internally though (except from the elites) and it all came crushing down in October with a "simple" raise on subway prices :dead: looking back, is pretty funny THAT was the spark that lit the fire.

And well, police brutality is retarded levels here. If you ain't rich or don't look like you are from a higher class, you get treated like a criminal by default, and in a bad neighborhood anything can happen.
Crazy that you look at it that way cause for dominicans back in DR, Chile is seen as an almost developed nation and the best place to live in the region after Canada and USA.

As I've been seeing things unfold, you brehs are going through basically the same process we did here in Chile since October 18th (though much of the systemic injustices are similar, the root of the problem is obviously much different and worse in y'alls case). Just don't let up, we kinda did and when we were about to go catch a second wind, Corona hit.
can you make a thread on this? I do feel our brothers and sisters in south America particularity brazil are going through hell and the world media ignores it. Can you make that thread about the life of black people in chile?

Yup, I know. That's part of the "mirage" I talked about earlier. And look, we are probably a better option than a lot of the countries in the region but unless you are coming from extreme poverty, a bad situation and/or a crazy situation like Venezuela, Chile ain't a huge "land of opportunity". Sad part is that in places like Haiti people are sold on that idea and then come here and the struggle is still real as fukk for them, I've made friends that had to go back because living here was just not worth it.

Dress for the job you have not the one you want.

These fakkits are plaing Battlefield with the citizens living out there war fantasies. I should have armed myself months ago, now there is no chance in hell of me being able to grab one/two legally.

What state are you in? Why can’t you cop a piece legally?
