A few thoughts on what's going on - purely observational and anecdotal - but coming from a place of rarely missing Bucks games:
-Dying on a hill or pining for Griff to be here is a very strange angle to take. I'm saying that as someone who was on his side as a fan, which is a minority viewpoint for most Bucks fans. In the end, the window wasn't there to wait for him to figure out how to call plays, have locker room issues or jerryrig Toronto's defensive system to our roster. Short of a championship, he would've been fired anyway. It's that simple.
-Doc is memeable, yes. And I don't care for the hire with regard to our playoff aspirations or young player development. But the following will come down to actually watching us - and not standings or box scores: Out of his start, the only truly bad loss was Portland. And that one is on the players for putting themselves in that position (e.g. Dame attempting to recreate Dame Time in PDX with bad shot selection, Bobby hunting his own shot, collectively not going to Khris when he was on fire.) The Bucks have been historically shytty in Denver for decades, aside from it being Doc's first game coaching. Last night's game, the bench didn't produce, the team collectively shot like shyt, plus they're without Brook and Khris.
-The game they won (Dallas) was the first comeback we've had this year where they actually outcoached the other team versus outplaying them because they felt like it. Being down 20+ that game to start was on the players.
Ultimately, he's trying to come in midseason, install a system/strategy/plays, and correctly utilize Dame and Giannis. They're gonna eat some Ls and look sloppy til they figure it out. Otherwise, they actually look like they're in a system and there's a two-man game forming with Dame and Giannis, which wasn't always the case with AG. The bigger deal here is that are roster construction issues - namely missing a point-of-attack defender and a decline in our bench (Bobby and Pat C have been suspect) - that Horst has to figure out if we're going to contend for real.
