when I was stationed in South Korea I was talking to this hispanic chick who worked at the PSB. She was in Daegu so I had to travel by bus from waegwan to see her.

anyway, she stood me up a couple of times. at first I thought it was work related, but she wasn't leaving any messages to let me know. eventually I asked her what the deal was. she told me that she was getting back with her ex. I was like no problem, do you. since she told me she was getting back with dude, I stopped talking to her. well that was a bit of a mistake.

you see her job at the PSB was to cut orders for people to go back to the states from korea and my battalion fell under her jurisdiction. to get back at me for not talking to her anymore she stopped processing orders for anyone in my battalion. now most of you civilian types might not realize how crucial that is. just imagine being away from your wife/GF, kids and family for over a year and when it is time for you to go home someone tells you that you can't because their feelings are hurt. I had brothers after me over that chick. I smoothed it over with her, mostly in order to save my own life.

:why: sounds like something a Puerto Rican chick would do.

Scored an 89 on the 'Vab gonna see what's good with the Airforce :win:

what field are you looking to get into?

you should look into taking the DLAB (defense language aptitude battery) before contracting if they offer it.

Occupations where you can acquire either a secret or more preferably top secret clearance. Also occupations that will translate easily into the civilian world.

Hopefully be able to get out, have the TS clearance and eat well off some contractors.

Wanna get stationed outside the US though, really wanna go to Japan or South Korea or something like that.

I meant fields in general. I was army and airforce coding for jobs is very different. I am going to have to google those! anyway I mentioned DLAB as it tests a person's ability to learn languages. doing well on it leads to various military intelligence jobs. that would pretty much guarantee future employment.

I can't say that the army would be better than the airforce for IT. I did know people in the army who were getting near 6 figure job offers when they were near the end of their contracts. these dudes had no degrees but had received training for various certifications for free through the army. I would assume the airforce would be no worse.

Karume knows what he's talking about. Take the DLAB if you think you are eligible for a TS clearance. The contractors who are guaranteed a payday are the GOOD linguists. Note i say good. I took the test but i wasnt really trying to spend 2 years learning a hard language. They have like a 60% wash out rate for the school.
