Country slipping away into madness right in front of us and yall cant see it

Protesters marching past my house RIGHT NOW. No looting, no shooting, just like a big-ass parade.

I've seen 'madness' in Desert Storm and the LA Riots of '92.

This ain't it.

I would think that you NEVER fire on American citizens. Like what situation has an active duty soldier ever been in where he had to kill Americans?

I can’t think of anything, in recent times, that was duty related (edit: I think a guardsman/possible MP killed someone) Service members are well within their rights to not follow an order they don’t interpret as lawful. If a platoon leader panics and screams for someone to shoot and there isn’t an actual threat (which must be discussed and determined way higher up beforehand) then you won’t get in any trouble. If a guardsman refuses I don’t see them getting in any real trouble aside from an article 15/reprimand/etc. if they take it to court martial the order still has to be proven lawful

Military doesn't have to blindly follow unlawful orders if I understand correctly
This. You can refuse an order if it's deemed as being unlawful (stealing, killing of one's own people, raping someone, etc.)

Edit: I wouldn't follow it for three reasons:

  1. I'm in the Navy. We have people in specific rates (Master at Arms, Gunners Mates) that are in custody of our handheld arsenal. I'm not one of those...
  2. I'm not even qualified to wield a pistol.
  3. Killing people that are trying to fight injustice is ridiculous. I'd be well within my rights to refuse.

One of the most evil motherfukkers I met while in the service was black and I hate to admit that. A black Master Chief.

Bad bad combo. Asskisser, Moron, and Power. I’m convinced he would kill his momma to gain favor with command. I seen him literally grin:mjgrin: as he ruined other black sailors military careers.
i actually had a black master seargent tell me i needed to "kiss all the ass i could find"

I'm not trolling at all. I've never seen nothing like this. I'm really trying to understand the headspace of a US soldier being put in this situation.
Not military but I asked 2 brother in laws that are both in the US Army 5th Special Forces Group. They said they'd follow Rules of Engagement and not fire on anyone until fired upon.

This is crazier than the LA Riots. I was around for that too.

The country is on fire right now. 63 people died during the LA riots. I think it's hard for people that weren't there to remember how crazy the LA Riots were because there was so much less camera footage back then. So I do think people aren't remembering how big an event that was. But on the flip side, by the time the dust settles on everything right now I think the death toll will be higher, and I think the property damage will be greater as well. There's a certain energy to this, it's nationwide, and frankly there's a sense that this isn't going to stop anytime soon.

I dont give a fukk about CNN:dwillhuh:Im telling u what actually happens on a battlefield. The president isnt there to scour every little detail

If I refuse to shoot a clearly non threatening civilian then I wont

If a civilian tries to harm me or another soldier they gettin sent to hell:camby: it aint that hard

And if I hurt a civilian who is non combatant thats a trip to leavenworth for a murder charge. Not paid leave like cops do. We actually get held accountable
And if you've seen overseas riots, these ain't even riots :francis:
