Put it like this, that dude Grossman is partner at one of the biggest firms in San Diego, not saying he DID, but he could potentially hire the DA he negotiated with, for like 100k more than what he makes at the DA's office, like three years from now. That kind of favor comes back around.
This is why Justice Department lawyers always almost settle with big firms and banks, because they will eventually make the transition to white collar law.
