I was having this conversation with my mentor. Tennis, F1… and other sports which is considered “elitist”, make it difficult for those from lower socio-economic backgrounds to prosper.

The Williams sisters and Lewis Hamilton came from working class backgrounds and they are sadly anomalies in their sports (maybe not so much in tennis now but definitely back then.)

The money it costs to join these clubs, getting a trainer, travel, equipment etc. it all adds up. Unless both parents are making 6 figure salaries, it’s extremely difficult to support a child making it in those sports.

It’s no surprise that Tiger Woods (if you want to consider him black) was raised in Orange County. And despite that, he still encountered racial barriers.

There should be far more black racing drivers in NASCAR, F1 and so on but we’re systemically kept out financially and through racial segregation.

Motorsports is insane.

I had motorcycle dreams for about 10 minutes until I started learning about the process FR.

shyt just gonna be a hobby :(

It costs a fortune.....cars x20.

I think in the next decade or so we're gonna see some Americans blowing up in MotoGP and F1.

Lewis had 2 deal with a lot of BS in his career 2. I really hope he can secure 1 more to just rub it in the haters face.

its WILD how much $$$ some people I know are/have spent on their kids sports.

The fukked up part 2 is some of these kids really don't have talent either :hubie:

The schedules and traveling is so crazy 2 IDK how these parents do it...
I know this lady who spend a grip on her daughters Ice skating camps. Her kid does have talent but she sent her to a special camp somewhere out west trying to get her on the track to compete at the Olympics at some point.

I think the camp cost 15K and this was in 2011.

This is a sport black people should be dominating.
The sht is so close to other sports that we dominate, it's crazy.

Its really boxing without taking punches mixed with sprinting, and the creativity of playing basketball

I feel like the real reason is we not really hanging around tennis courts like that. Growing up in kenya my deskmate was number two in the country in our age group and there was a guy a grade ahead who was first. We barely played tennis. We fukked around and did all other sports though. Boys school and we did everything competitive against each other from the time we were six so we played damn near everything.

From the clip she looks like she got good coaching and its good she's using the physicality and footwork and discipline that would be in boxing on a non contact sport. I wonder how old she is, her ranking and if she can go pro or has she gone pro

Mike came from the hood. Ain’t that good enough? :mindblown:

Breh has a point that OK first people who have made money in things like sports are likely to encourage their kids to put time and effort into becoming excellent at it.
The ones who made enough money are likely to be exceptional athletes genetically and you combine that with the money to get them good coaching puts the average person at a deficit both genetically and training. Of course there's gonna be guys picked out the blue but you'll find the top tier guys have a history of athleticism in their family. Alot of the guys in the NBA are second generation or more athletes. You have guys like Gilbert Arenas kids coming up who get to play with all stars, have put in the work, had the coaching and have had to worry about nothing else other than being good at basketball. I'd be hooping from sunrise to sunset if that was my life and it didn't seem self indulgent.

I think about 40 NBA players had a father in the NBA the other non foreigners and non black make up the majority of the NBA. Most of them come from humble beginnings. That fear that both of you have isn’t based on reality.
