Kimbo lasted all of 20 seconds in professional boxing. Beat a couple rookies like himself the had a toe 2 toe war with a relative unknown scrub that put his career on ice (probably from the difficulty)

He shouldn't even be mentioned with Tyson (and yes, I think Kimbo could wash me so there's no disrespect)
Boxing and an mma fight are 2 different beasts, since one is restricted to using your arms and the other is closer to a real fight.

Kimbo fought mercer. Old ass Randy Coutoure fought James Toney. Both had takedown and submission on their mind. Both won. Anyone trying to stand in front of these guys is obviously not smart.
Which is cool. They both did what they should've done to old ass boxers, stuck in their ways, and past their primes

Toney didn't even respect or prepare for the MMA shyt.. which I completely disagreed with and was even disappointed at.

And Mercer actually beat an MMA legend years before (Tim Silva I believe)... But none of them were as good as Tyson at the shyt Tyson does... even now. Watching Kimbo struggle against some random, low level heavyweight was enough for me

I guess to explain it better it's like Track and Field athletes. One runs cross country the other is a short distance sprinter. Neither would probably beat the other in his/her event especially depending on the level of competition they face.

Tyson didn't have to retire btw. He could've beat up on low level boxers but decided to leave when he was no longer a top player or even interested in boxing. He's not Ray Mercer at all though

Give respect where its due. Mikes hands, weight and rage are a problem. Not so much if he falls down. :shaq:

But taking down a 50 year old man, aint that hard.

My thing with the whole boxing vs. MMA thing is this.. even though your sport is new.. your art is new compared to boxing, but MMA cats don't seem to respect or understand the sport of boxing. Most of yall figure that if you just take them down and it's an easy win. But when you go against legit, successful boxers, it's not just a physical thing... It's more mental. Most successful boxers stick to what they know but still give MMA fighter props because of what they don't know. MMA fighters don't really do the same and thats offensive to me. I blame the infatuation of BJJ for that.

but tell me, can you take down a moving target that knows about distance and range? On top of one that knows about distance and range but has speed, reflexes, and agility to get in and out of the range? What about timing? DO most MMA fighters even know how to hit a speedbag or train with it? or a reflex bag?
