The funny thing is 10 years from now these same threads will be made.

Lets be real, nobody gives a shyt abput biggie or jay or nas.

Youll never see statues built of any other rapper.

Pac had everything. He could make any song, reach any demographic.

The dudes that furiously try to discredit him 18 years after his death says more about them. Nobodys out here trying to discredit biggie, because nobody gives a fukk about biggie.

I haven't read the whole thread breh (Watching The Knick :smugbond:smile: but who's discrediting him? From what I've seen so far, it's a lot of cats saying that his attempt to be a part of something that he shouldn't have been a part of caused his downfall. That doesn't mean he isn't "real" or not it means that unless you are in a gang, don't get yourself involved in gang shyt

You can read people in the thread that try to discredit him as fake.

But really 2pac was human. He showed all his sides and he wasnt afraid to do it. Its not like he ever hid who he was at any point.

Yeah I don't see that as a fake though and from a reasonable standpoint, I don't see how anyone else could. Pac got involved in some stuff he shouldn't have been involved in and he isn't the first one of us to do so, which makes him a lot more relatable than stars like to be

2pac wasn't going to win either way. Once he denounced thug life in vibe some east coasters shyt on him for it and said he got raped in jail. I can only imagine how much angrier that made him considering everything he had went through up to that point.

You touched on something with this post. Some folks in this thread are catching feelings over his credibility and actions being questioned. Your post makes me wonder if had he stayed alive, and matured, made rational decisions, and become more conservative as most people do with aging and wisdom, would the same folks catching feelings in this thread still feel as passionate over his legacy? I mean career wise, he reminds me of Cube in a lot of ways. With the way his acting career was picking up steam, it wouldn't have been surprising to see him take on roles that would have made some of his stans raise an eyebrow much like Cube doing Are We There Yet, or Ice T playing a cop on Law and Order. The reality was he was an artist with revolutionary and Black Nationalist/Afro-Centric influences before he was gangster. He was smart too, and passionate, and I believe somewhere down the line he would have received the Larry Holmes treatment from some stans on here had he lived long enough because the artist/dancer in him would have kicked in again somewhere down the line. Plus there was evidence he was getting ready to leave Death Row and their bull sh!t which would have been huge. He might have reinvented himself.

Yeah i dont understand it either.

The whole reason he is so beloved is because he showed who he was, the good and the bad. Dude laid his soul out in songs and interviews.

The only people that labelled him as some super thug was the media.

But you got a lot of salty people from new york :heh: still angry about him for some reason.

2pac: I'm getting money. It was cool. I got to speak to young black males all over the country about this new idea called "Thug Life"......which is a new kind of Black Power. When I say, "Thug Life", I mean that shyt because these white folks see us as thugs. I don't care if you think you a lawyer, a man, an African-American. If you whatever the fukk you think you are, we thugs and nikkas to these motherfukkers! Until we own some shyt, I'll call it like it is. How you gonna be a man and we starving? Walk about five different houses, there ain't a man in either one of them motherfukkers. How we gonna be African-Americans if we all need a gun? We thugs and nikkas until we set this shyt right. Trust me when I tell you that shyt. Young black males identify with Thug Life, but I couldn't handle it. I could handle it, but not right away.

What do people not understand? :why:

what puzzles me about this thread is people are so obessed with defending pac they dont want to take in accounts and retrospectives from individuals who were not only around him but have the chance to reflect on what they thought. People are like "well why didnt marlon wayans say anything!!??" what is there to say or do? 20 years ago you think pac would have said "Marlon is right im gonna stop all this"

or how "oh fukk the beastie boys mike d is corny" people who were there, people who helped shape the genre people who were with pac, knew him etc are somehow not valid because they "throw dirt on his name"

i think alot people in this thread are not only corny as fukk but lack the ability to put aside their bias and take in an opinion or conclusion based on actual facts of the situation

:what:

are you reading the same thread?

1. the general idea is that pac never claimed to be a tough guy.
2. marlon never said pac was a phoney or soft or anything of that nature, so i dont see your point.
3. did mike d even know pac like that? if at all?

The whole Street life stuff has been around long before hip hop was even around. But People want to act like a genre of music caused the problem. Rap of the 90 got too much blame for commmuity issues.

Then why dudes from the burbs and overseas pretend to be a thug? Why people fake talking about catching bodies to impress their peers? :mjpls:

If anything, it spreaded the negative elements to unimaginable heights. Rap never caused it, but it sure did additional damage to it.
