This is why someone winning a title in a higher division doesn't really mean shyt until they defend it against the guys in that weightclass. Leonard 168. Jones HW. Manny 154. Cotto 160 just to name a few.

The funny part is I bet most ya'll didn't say shyt when the WBC tried to force a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight by making Manny the mandatory and Mayweather threatened to toss the belt. Talking about "belts don't make Mayweather, blah blah blah"

But when Cotto does it, he's a coward :usure:

Which one is it :rudy:

Actually, many did call floyd out on that. Cotto, just knows that him being the middleweight champion, is a joke. A farce. If you aren't going to defend against the number one guy, kick rocks. Myself and others hold this standard to everyone, not just Cotto.

I not aware of that at all. Cuz when I was in PR last year, everyone I spoke to praised him and held him in high regard, saying he does alot for the country and his people.
i spoke to someone on a boxing scene and i forget what part of the island he was from and he said everyone there hated him and often rooted for the guy he was fighting... also didnt cotto make them pay for the trout fight.

if u say is true than there are mixed feelings about him.

First off.....alot of us spoke on it:mjpls:

Secondly, Cotto is not threatning to toss the belt. If he DID, we'd be happy with it. Instead, this Coward wants to hang ON to the Middleweight Championship while defending it against fighters 2 weights below him:comeon:

Advise me when has Floyd Mayweather defended the Junior Middleweight Championship against a Junior Welterweight?:sas1:

When has Floyd Mayweather defended the Welterweight Championship against a Lightweight?:sas1:

Exactly breh....it never happened:yeshrug:

So tell the Coward to either vacate the Middleweight Championship or defend against a Middleweight in his next fight after his voluntary defense:birdman:

Funny thing is that the most recent time this was tried with the WBC, it was by another Puerto Rican Champion that you like, attempting to defend his belt against a smaller opponent as well....until the WBC stepped in and said:ufdup:

Fair enough.

Judging by Cotto's comments, it seems like he he'll drop the belt if they force him to fight GGG. Like Floyd did with Manny, before he won the WBO belt, taking him off the rankings.

Is Cotto a coward for not fighting GGG, or because he's defending it against non-middleweights. I agree he should fight some middleweights.

Oh and don't even bring up the crooked ass WBC. They didn't want Garcia defending the belt against Salka, but they were perfectly ok with Santa Cruz defending his Super Bantamweight belt against the 115th ranked Bantamweight :camby:

fukk em :pacspit:

If he vacates the belt, then fine. I have no problem with it.

Middleweights or even Junior Middleweights (in some cases) are acceptable and who he should be fighting as WBC Middleweight Champion. Defending the belt against Welterweights is unacceptable though.

He's not a coward for not wanting to fight GGG.

Cotto gets absolutely no credit from me for being a "middleweight champ"

We all know the only reason he fought sergio was becuz he was an old azz gimp

I suppose we should strip Roy of ever winning a Heavyweight title too :Giamati:

Do u honestly think that that's the same thing?

Ruiz wasn't an an old injured man. And despite what people try to say Ruiz was not a garbage fighter. Even tho Evander was past his prime he was not an easy fight and he beat him and went on to fight him to a draw. And it's not like Roy was at a 30 lbs disadvantage or anything right???

So miss me with that bullshyt

Cotto's punk ass fought Sergio becuz he was damn near handicapped not to mention old

Funny thing to me is them throwing around Bradley and Rios' names. Personally, I think Bradley is capable of outpointing Cotto. Rios, I think is capable of hurting Cotto. That said, regardless of fighting GGG or not, Cotto doesn't have any easy options. He thinks he's slick after losing to Trout by linking up with Roach and then fighting one tomato can, and afterwards fighting a champion who was only a shell of himself. He thinks he has the public fooled, but he's only fooling himself. I wouldn't call him a coward cuz I'm not going into any ring, but he's definately doing some major ducking and the sad part is him ducking won't necessarily save him from taking some L's in the future.

Can't blame Al Haymon either. :sas2:
