Sony should just buy rockstar games to retaliate, and tell MS "say bye bye to red dead, and GTA bytches"
Sony literally can't afford to buy anything on that level. And even if they could, Microsoft would just buy another big publisher like EA in response.

Depends. Hopefully Microsoft doesn't buy either. Rockstar has long lead times between games typically, so they should be safe from any sort of Microsoft acquisition. EA might cause anti-trust to get involved if Microsoft were snooping around them.

They'd have to put the entire company in the red for a publisher that makes 1 game every generation, Microsoft is spending play money. Sony can't compete with microsoft on that level.

I know...:why:

You can't just "make" a Call of Duty alternative, just like you can't make a GTA alternative. You can make an extremely high-quality game and it could sell well, but it takes more than that for it to become a cultural phenomenon.
Saints Row was well on its way to being a GTA alternative if not better but they chose to go with non funny humor instead :hhh:
