Everybody uses their consoles for different things breh. I for one, like consoles having browsers because I don't have to plug my laptop into the TV anytime I want to stream content to it.

I view content via streaming primarily through these systems. More options with the IE browser for Xbox is an advantage. Sony should have refined their shyt so that people could use it for real streaming sites like HBOGo, and ESPN3 etc. MS has dedicated apps for these, but if the PS3's browser was improved, people would be able to view shyt like that via the browser.

Maybe I'm asking for too much.

Don't downplay the potential for this. Yes PS3 has a browser, but it's not a fully functioning browser like what MS is planning on doing here. A lot sites don't work on PS3. I would imagine that IE9 on the Xbox will be much better and offer much more then the PS3's browser.

How is it a bad thing to have a browser in the console? If you've been paying attention to what MS is doing lately, they're trying to position themselves alongside the streaming boxes in addition to what it offers gaming wise.

Even after next gen comes around, the Xbox will still have value as a streaming box with all that it offers currently. And a lot of these devices (PS3, roku etc) don't have a fully functioning web browser in them.
