Theres speculation theres some serious consequences to Microsofts future plans if this falls through which is why they are being so aggressive with their response and fighting for it. Wouldn’t be surprised if they were largely factoring their growth for the next fiscal year on it.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if their upcoming showcase had Activision stuff in it also

I was just dumbfounded by people just going "they should buy WBD" like it's no issue. Like it makes no sense for Microsoft to buy a business largely focused on theatrical releases/tv shows/streaming just to get DC games

Yeah, that wouldn’t happen. Discovery would have to sell off the gaming division separately which was a possibility a couple years ago but no one wanted it without the IP (that they obviously wouldn’t sell) so it would just be a bunch of studios, which we know are worthless cause talent would just slowly leave.

If Microsoft didn’t go for Activision theres a good possibility they would have got Square Enix West, Eidos, Crystal Dynamics, etc. with their IP like Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Soul Reaver, and they had mobile studios.

Very big missed opportunity there.
