Man Russo's booking was getting tired by late 98, when Chris Kreski took over he had the product looking amazing in and out of the ring in 2000. Russo was a part of bankrupting WCW and when Steph took the book in full in 2001 shyt just turned for the worst.
Kreski came in like the new captain of the Titanic after Edward John Smith dodged the iceberg.

By 2000, Kreski had such a roster to work with, it'd be literally impossible to fukk it up. Especially coming off of Russo's success.

Then why didn't Russo succeed with all that talent and unlimited funding in WCW? Why did the Invasion fail after Chris stepped back?

Without Vince McMahon at his best none of this will ever be good period.

Russo failed in WCW because he wasn't dealing with the (HUNGRY!!!) roster that he had in WWF from 1997 to mid-1999. He was dealing with Hogan, Sting, Goldberg. Big egos, for the most part resting on their laurels.

The Invasion failed because Vinnie Mac didn't spring for the talent they needed in 2001 (NWO, Flair, Steiner, Goldberg, etc.)

HHH is going to bury the Foley family so bad tomorrow. :banderas: And Bryan too for good measure.

A lot of those things were set in motion by Russo though, particularly the big HHH heel run.
Stephanie was more over than HHH during that time

The difference was, unlike Russo everything wasn't random and quick. Things were planned with branching plots out for months with payoffs like a true drama. That's not Russo's style at all except that Taker and Kane storyline.

Resting a year after they were just beating the WWEs ass and running one of the greatest storylines of all time. Sure they were getting paid but if he was so great he would have more than just a year and a half of booking to look towards being behind one of the greatest minds in the biz and two all time greats to write for.

I would ask you to expand on this, breh. I'm not sure what you're getting at. maybe it's my reading comprehension but I would ask you to clarify.

I'll wait

HHH was basically what Orton is right now except a little better until Foley and Rock got people to care about him on that level. I know that's hard to read but watch the tapes again
Steph would get absolutely shytted on the mic and slut chants and boos would fill the areana. HHH would cut a struggle promo trying to one up some of the best ever and just get a$$hole chants. shyt was funny

Russo really only has about 2 good years of booking. In that time he was right there with arguably the greatest mind in wrestling in Vince Mcmahon at his best. He also just happen to be able to write for fukking Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock in an era where alot of the wrestlers had way more control over there characters. Everywhere else he's gone to book he's made things worst. That's undeniable. I'll never get the defense of him as some genius when he's really the one who's lucky.

He also stole from ECW though he'll never admit it :mjpls:

Orton does NOT get that type of heat. :camby:

Hell, no heel does.

First of all, in my humble opinion, HHH was far better as a heel than Orton. He didn't sound so robotic in promos for one. But that's another story and thread altogether!!!

I think I understand your point here. My contention is that Russo made not only Austin, Rock, and the main eventers better, but also the midcard. This may be anecdotal. But I never felt the need to turn the channel to Nitro by the time 1999 came around. The WWF midcard was hot shyt.

I'll give you that Russo failed save WCW . I've presented my reasons why this was at its core: i.e. Hogan, Sting, Goldberg not being hungry. Standards and practices? Could be.

I think Russo deserves a lot of credit. "Genius" is a strong term, I hesitate to apply it to him only because I feel I am not qualified. Only a guy like Vince McMahon, who controlled the money, could do so. However, I do think Russo had remarkable talent. He came up from a smark to magazine editor to head of creative. He kept RAW interesting for several straight years, top to bottom.

Not really. He's shrugging off the main problem. That is that WWE prefers not taking a chance on their most over talent because he's not a draw, instead of doing everything they can to make him a draw and take advantage of his popularity.

Lance's response is lazy as fukk to be honest. He's basically asking fans to do some out of this world shyt and not addressing how fukked up it is that WWE needs their fans to do some insane level of highjacking to get what they want.
Lance storm sounds Like a idiot . I'm not turning off raw to prove a point and dbry sells merch. The real problem is wwe has one foot in the past and the other in the present . They messed with punk and now doing it to dbry , the fans got them 2 titles and shyt but they are under the glass ceiling since Batista has a movie coming out .
