:mjpls: Russo with Vinny Mac filtering Russo's ideas was pretty good for his time. There is a reason why the E haven't been the same since the after effects of Russo leaving the E. :troll:

I gotta agree as much as Russo hates the art form of wrestling, once Steph got the book in late 2000, the product got progressively worse. But I still think they need a writer: 1) Not scared of Vince, Steph and Triple H and 2) Smart enough to book a product based on elements of MMA and cable television drama

When Russo left we got the best overall year of the company ever in 2000.
It's not like Russo set them up with the foundation for several different storylines or anything

:heh: Problem is, do you really think Vince wants a writer that will step up to him though that knows about wrestling? He wants a bunch of Yes men for his "Sports Entertainment" and doesn't have to worry about fukking up because at the end of the day, there is no competition so why change shyt up is his thinking. :beli:

If you believe Russo he said he had a whole year of ideas left over when he left for WCW back in 1999
I don't take his word as gospel, nor do I dismiss it. I have always believed that WWE was on cruise control in 2000. It just felt that way watching it. It was good. Not as edgy as 1997-1999, but definitely on the same track storyline-wise

Oh I know, Russo benefited for the sheer fact that Vince was so desperate after RAW rating dropped to such a low number in early 1997 when Nitro was kicking their ass that he became a writer. A lot of the problems with WWE today are a direct result of no viable competition.

Man Russo's booking was getting tired by late 98, when Chris Kreski took over he had the product looking amazing in and out of the ring in 2000. Russo was a part of bankrupting WCW and when Steph took the book in full in 2001 shyt just turned for the worst.
