It started in like 97-99 when the devos, van andel, and other east grandrapids Old money families said fukk this, we dont need detroit, and they started rebuilding grandrapids, muskegeon, etc, (letting benton harbor go to hell) and they kept the money tight.

They let detroit implode as The auto industry fell (why do you think romney wanted detroit to go bankrupt? Because he doesnt give a fukk about detroit metro), and improved their economic and political clout in lansing and grandrapids.

As the conservative superpac shyt rose, as the young turks vid said, they pumped that money into creating a politician that would lie his fukking ass off and flip the script as soon as he was elected. They "romney'd" michigan. Just like in wisconsin.

The typical "emergency city manager" - "right to work" - "bridge to nowhere" playbook was activated and here we are now.

Its been crazy to watch Grand Rapids completely shyt all over Detroit. That's the real battle know no one has talked about yet. The west side of Michigan is completely flexing on Metro Detroit and there is actually a major racial component to it. Grand Rapids is taking a big shyt on Detroit right now in terms of socio economics and political clout.

If you dont live in one of the bubble towns in michigan (cities that are pretty independant...Ann Arbor, muskegeon, jackson, east lansing) well.... because egr old money is railroading everyone else.

Yeah, but they'll never get the votes to get a republican in detroit...thus, the emergency city manager route, and railroading education control from the city of detroit. Maybe business growth downtown, but really, i welcome that (though i dont live there so my perspective is different... @eastside313 @NigerianDonDada your thoughts?)

All i know is, good bless ann arbor for straight status at everyone else. That city will always be cool and immune to the bullshyt.

Thanks for the mention...I guess Unions will just have to prove their worth. If unions are doing what they claim, then things should be just fine.

Besides, I don't get all the doom and gloom about this. With Obamacare set to kick in with "free" health care, and those bustling 5 million jobs he created in the last 4 years; and now with the rich soon to be "paying their fair share"...one would think Democrats would be bursting with optimism, no?
