TBH I think in general kids have become a lot lazier mentally, and they're watching a lot of people on TV and on the Internet who sound dumb as rocks wearing the best of the best, driving nice cars, etc etc. Add in the dumbass parents who are just as affected and either encourage that line of thinking or try to ignore what's really going on.

No...the complaint seems to be that they aren't outting anyone but us.

I'm all for preaching where preaching needs to be done. However if he can talk about the stank behaviors within the black community to a black audience as the President, then he can do the same with the white community and other demographics. Exactly. Im not sure of the exact meaning of Michelle's quote about beyonce but I am sure it pertained more to the confidence and liberation that entertainers exhibit while performing. To someone who has to maintain a buttoned up image, that sort of freedom of expression can be understandably desirable. Also, Beyonce is more than a singer........she is a buisnesswoman whose brand has managed to successfully permeate urban and mainstream markets.
Back to the subject at hand................Michelle spoke on people whose only desire is to be a music or sports star with no other back up plan. People have spoken about the aging neighborhood rapper/ ymca baller on this board........ Joked about these people pushing mixtapes in parking lots and dunking on young kids in the gym. Yet they use the whimsical thoughts of a highly successful woman to negate her understandable frustration on certain issues on the youth in our community.

He has a point. If you want to discuss the importance of education, talking to a bunch of college graduates isn't going to fix anything. Do you think those college students are gonna say "Mrs Obama, how am I supposed to get an decent education when we barely have enough books in our class, don't have heat during the winter, and our teachers literally told us they're only here to get a paycheck?" That was my public school experience when I was a youngin. What she would need to do is take the conversation to the place that needs it most, and listen to the reason why the dropout rates are so high. If you watch documentaries like Waiting for Superman, you'll see it's not because kids want to be rappers and ball players. It's because a lot of the time we have shytty schools, creating shytty neighborhoods, which feed these kids straight to the pen.

It's like going to a church and preaching on the importance on believing in God. You're preaching to the choir.

I think people should aspire to do what they can do best and if that happens to be sports/entertainment so be it. Everybody don't want to be a 9 to 5 cat they whole life. If you can find another legal way of it happening why not? nikkas acting like making legal money from sports/entertainment is the equivalent of saying you want to be burger flipper of the year smdh.
