Of course it deserved to be nominated.

Boyhood is easily the greatest coming-of-age movie ever. Boring as it may seem, it perfectly captures the experience.

Birdman...good god, we're just gonna differ on this one.
Birdman might be the worst movie to get Best Picture since The English Patient.

:scust:

I take that back. It was better than Argo.

I would buy 20 copies of the English patient before I watch Crash once...Crash remains the worst Oscar best pic in history; I enjoyed Birdman mainly because of Keaton and the directing; the story was cool, not great, so it was really Keaton that did it for me. Anyone else in that role and I'm probably not liking it

I'll give you that boyhood really captured that experience but it doesn't make it a better film. I just don't know what you cats are watching to think that Birdman was horrible. The humor alone instantly endeared me to the film from the opening lines "it smells like.....ballls........". But I've been told in this thread that it could've "been funnier" or that it's because I'm white I think its funny.
Just a shytty year, I thought.

Like I said earlier...there were other movies I enjoyed way more than Birdman...

Boyhood
Grand Budapest Hotel
Gone Girl
Nightcrawler
A Most Violent Year --- which, by the way...that guy Oscar Isaac? That guy's one of the best actors in the world. Lately he's been impressing the fukk outta me. Right now it's him and Tom Hardy.

Oscar Isaac was great but that movie was boring as balls and wasn't very enjoyable aside from looking at Jessica Chastain. I liked Gone Girl a little less/about as equal as Birdman. Budapest is good but I think Birdman said something about life and existence that makes it more than just a movie to me.

Agreed on Isaac being robbed a nomination. Oscar Isaac is coming to dominate soon; dude is legit one of the most talented out now. A Most Violent Year was too cynical like Nightcrawler for the Oscars; they still soft as hell lol

The only thing that bothered me about Budapest was...

I thought The Life Aquatic, and Moonrise Kingdom were way better.

But Bupapest gets the Oscars hype?

Different strokes I guess because I was never bored in A Most Violent Year; I found it to be gripping and the story should've gotten a screenplay nomination
