This may sound fukked up, but if I were Italian, I might have an issue with the glut of mob movies or mob television shows because they're only showing one part of my culture. Which is how I feel as a black man seeing more Superfly, especially one that looks like it was shot in someones backyard.

I'm all about more black people in television and movies but I also want new stories and quality product as well. Tyler Perry does his thing, he has his audience and they love him. But I don't see every Tyler Perry flick because it's not my thing

Looks like Point Break. The remake did not match up to the original.

I just dont get how you can have the template for a great film. Something that impacted society because it spoke to it......& then they just try to insult people's intelligence.

Its Hollywood so I shouldn't be surprised.

No Whammies!!
Trailer dropped yesterday:

I don't agree with their take on the original movie at all. NY in the 70s was so gritty that most people didn't realize that "The Warriors" was supposed to take place in a dystopian future. The star of Superfly was basically trying to escape from a world that seemed to be decaying into a post-apocalyptic situation. Yet the new movie is like "We're just as Hot and Trendy as Harlem was in the 70s!".

I watch what I’m interested in:russ:

And again the more you all push the more I’m just not going to watch it. At this point it’s principles involved. Principalities, Smokey
Its on Hulu you have no excuses. :francis:

Strangers prey at night was good so I have no clue what you're talking about. Horror isn't your thing breh, back down.

Also again :russ: you nikkas don't listen. The more you tell me to do something, the more I will not on principle. Just the way I've always been. Yet somehow you think peer pressure will actually increase the chances of it happening? Fascinating

It wasn't a glamorous movie at all. He wasn't even a major player compared to this version.

I just had an epiphany. I think this movie was written under an entirely different vision and name but those Sony cacs were like if you want us to buy those rights and distribute that BS then they have to change the title to capitalize on stateside africans looking to purchase anything "black". The name they chose and probably own the rights to is "Superfly."

Figuring most people won't have any idea about the original version and will support this off nostalgia.
