MJ has written some his OWN biggest hits

Shake Your Body (Down to the ground)-Co-written with brother Randy
Don't Stop Till You Get Enough
Working Day And Night
Beat It
Billie Jean
Wanna Be Startin Something
Bad
The Way You Make Me Feel
Speed Demon
Another Part Of Me
Dirty Diana
Leave Me Alone
Black Or White
Jam

Hell he wrote most of the Bad album. Which is one of only two albums in history to have FIVE singles chart at number 1 (4 of which were written by Jackson)

He co-produced or produced much of his work as well, including having a big feud with Jones over not getting production credit for Billie Jean. Jackson almost vowed to not ever again work with Quincy again he felt so strongly about that.

So let's not even slight MJ like he was drake or somebody, MJ's pen game and ear for music was immaculate. That boy was a musical genius since he was 11 years old.

:whew:

Another thing . . Prince had an issue with the music industry . . so he basically took his ball and went home

Michael Jackson had an issue with the music industry and he bought the largest music publishing company in the world in 1985. He also had a separate publishing company for his own work Mijac Publishing - which also housed some prominent music works including songs made famous by Elvis, Aretha Franklin + the discography of Sly and the Family Stone

So it's safe to say that Michael Jackson had the better business prowess even though both of these men suffered from a great excessive spending problems
mikes buyin the largest publishing company in the world was what led to his demise..

when that nikka got the beetles catalog..woods true colors came out ..n it was their fault..kuz paul..taught him the game..mikes life..

far as the james brown mike n prince vid..

my dad explained it to me like this

only nikkas fukkin with prince musicianship wise was parliament n funkadelic...n thats only kuz members of both groups were down with james in the beginning..

in the vid...mike is kissin up to dad...knowin step brother aint got the same bond as he does...

prince cant do shyt to win dad over...

this whole thing was like the scene from eddie's murphy raw..

I'm just tuning into this as well . . I always assumed this his work was mostly written by other people. Kind of the Quentin Miller effect, if I know someone writes one of your songs I am going to assume you don't write any of your songs

Nah breh MJ had people write songs for him (Rod Temperton, Paul Mcartney, Teddy Riley, R.Kelly) but he also wrote and produced the MAJORITY of his solo albums. One of the reasons that the Jacksons left Motown was because they wanted to write and produce their own material. Michael even met with Berry Gordy behind Joseph's back and told him that Motown's writing staff was stale and that they didn't want to leave but their contracts had to have a guarantee that they could write their own music.

The Dynasty album, the first TRULY successful Post Motown Jackson's album was entirely written and produced by Michael and the group. Push Me Away is one of the first songs Michael ever wrote.

Prince's music overall doesn't stack up against MJs. Sorry but it's true brehs.

"The music's OK, I guess...." is how I feel about Prince's entire discog

Prince >>> MJ to me.

Always felt like he was the better overall creative force. Mike was a better entertainer, he was more captivating but he was still a "pop" star like we know them today.

Prince was popular but It seems his appeal it was always a little more organic and less about his celebrity. MJ was the shyt but I kinda view them the same way people see Nas/Jay. (even though I have a slight preference for Jay). Where the more subtle/less hyped of the two seems like the more true artist because of less pressure to sell/be this big spectacle 24/7.
