That's a harsh assessment. Are you considering that Prince is responsible for all of the work you're hearing from songwriting to production and Michael Jackson's work is the product of great producers and songwriters. Michael Jackson had the better voice, he had the dance moves . . . but he didn't have the songwriting and musicianship talent that Michael Jackson had

You mean "Prince."

For the record, I consider Prince to be quite talented. He's experimental, does some unique stuff, can write quite well, as evidenced on "Nothing Compares 2 U". Premo and Timbaland are huge fans and clearly there's an element of Prince in some of my all-time favorite hip hop. I just don't know a single song of his that I think is fantastic, other than "Make Up" by Vanity 6 (that song is so ahead of its time it's not even funny). "Kiss" is a good song. But it's not "Beat It" or "Wanna Be Startin Somethin", nahmean?

Did Prince come down to the stage on the back of a big ass Hodor like cac?:dwillhuh:
I don't know where but I've seen this guy before

Can somebody explain wtf is going on here :mjlol: @shopthatwrecks

Another thing . . Prince had an issue with the music industry . . so he basically took his ball and went home

Michael Jackson had an issue with the music industry and he bought the largest music publishing company in the world in 1985. He also had a separate publishing company for his own work Mijac Publishing - which also housed some prominent music works including songs made famous by Elvis, Aretha Franklin + the discography of Sly and the Family Stone

So it's safe to say that Michael Jackson had the better business prowess even though both of these men suffered from a great excessive spending problems

Prince and Rich James beef stems from their tour together, they basically called each other out for stealing part of their stage show (this is a common story on tours - once Tupac called out DJ Quik for this)

MJ has written some his OWN biggest hits

Shake Your Body (Down to the ground)-Co-written with brother Randy
Don't Stop Till You Get Enough
Working Day And Night
Beat It
Billie Jean
Wanna Be Startin Something
Bad
The Way You Make Me Feel
Speed Demon
Another Part Of Me
Dirty Diana
Leave Me Alone
Black Or White
Jam

Hell he wrote most of the Bad album. Which is one of only two albums in history to have FIVE singles chart at number 1 (4 of which were written by Jackson)

He co-produced or produced much of his work as well, including having a big feud with Jones over not getting production credit for Billie Jean. Jackson almost vowed to not ever again work with Quincy again he felt so strongly about that.

So let's not even slight MJ like he was drake or somebody, MJ's pen game and ear for music was immaculate. That boy was a musical genius since he was 11 years old.

My bad . . ya . . Prince (I shall edit that)

I mean "Beat It", "Billie Jean", "Wanna Be Startin Something" . . those songs are some of the greatest work that music has to offer

but "Purple Rain", "When Doves Cry", "1999" . .. you don't think these songs are up there as well?

MJ and Prince had the Weirdest rivalry, but both of them knew that they were geniuses and both of them knew that they were the only ones truly running the 80's.

Quincy Jones tried for YEARS to get MJ and Prince to work together. The first time they ever met they just sat across from each other staring and never said a word.

Quincy Jones tried to get Prince to be on the We Are The World song. MJ was indifferent about his inclusion and Prince seemed reluctant but agreed. Prince was a no show for the session but called at the last minute to ask if he could come put down a guitar solo. MJ amd Quincy said no

Another time MJ had Prince break down, in graphic detail, the meaning and themes behind his song "Jack U Off". Prince played along and described the song to MJ while rolling his eyes

Another time Prince had a "gift" for MJ, he opened the gift see some charms and feathers. Prince, not saying a word, then left the room. Quincy told MJ to burn it, fearing it was some voodoo curse (yes this story is real)

We all know the infamous story behind Bad. MJ originally wanted it to be a collaboration with Prince, his original concept for the video was for them to have a Dance off with Prince to see who was really Bad. Prince later joked that he was put off by the opening lyrics but the truth is he thought the song was garbage.
