Interesting seeing the complete lack of attention this is getting thanks to a limited/hidden theater release schedule, VS the buzz and attention Killers Of The Flower Moon is getting with a completely theater release schedule. Both are streaming films that will that will end up exclusive to those apps soon but Apple is knocking it out the park whereas Netflix seemingly doesn't give a fukk. This has been a pattern btw. I wonder if it convinces more great directors to turn down Netflix money.

Next month we'll see Napoleon get a big theater release, lots of press and attention (assuming it's a good film) too for Apple. This just seems like a far better option.

BTW I am really looking forward to seeing The Killer, it looks great.

Stuff like this makes me view a lot of this shyt as financial fraud/laundering. A financial exercise in moving debt around with no real plan for making money. I've never seen the Knives Out movies but I know the first one was a smash hit. The second would have easily made 200+ mil at the box office. Instead they did a limited release and pushed it hard on Netflix. The end result are "high" streaming numbers that cannot be verified, which are used to increase investor commitments each quarter as long as subscriptions remain stable or increase.

A lot of different films have done great this year at the theater. It wouldn't be hard at all for The Killer to gross 30+ mil first week. The marketing has been really good, the director is well known, and it looks like an action thriller. Of course, reviews coming out so far suggest it's more complicated and challenging and I'm sure audiences might be disappointed but who cares. It would easily make money with a theater run regardless because, well..."from the director of Seven/Fight Club/Gone Girl/etc."

yeah, thinking of seeing in LA during the limited run, but not sure I'll make it in time. There's no way Glass Onion would have done 200 mil. It was a long watch, and I saw in theaters at a premiere. Audiences would have hated that in theaters.

these are good points about the streaming/theatrical release, I'm not sure that the audiences are the same people. I would almost rather see everything in theaters, even second tier stuff like Pain Hustlers, rather than sit at home and watch, and I think it's two demos. Esp. with the diffusion of streaming services. People won't get Netflix to watch The Killer, they will just watch something else, 8/10 of the time is my feeling.

Also, regarding Killers of The Flower Moon, Paramount and Apple financed it together, I am sure that plays a part in the better marketing and theater run.

That's an important point though. Apple is doing this with all their major film acquisitions as a means of getting into the good graces of studios and attracting talent. You cut the studio's cost, agree with a theater rollout, and then it becomes streaming exclusive. Whereas with Netflix they typically purchase films that don't have a studio attached, and overpay for them. And within a week of release no one is talking about the film. It just disappears into the endless #content ether.

Just watched. Didn't realize it was Fincher.

Didn't really understand the ending to be honest, it was prolly too subversive for me.

The Florida Man fight was the best fight I've seen since Jason Bourne versus Desh. Well up there at least. Raid 2 comes to mind.

Could I have watched this on the monitor? Eh

Seeing this in LA this week. Been watching Fincher classic's, Gone Girl, and The Social Network, and just binge watched 5 episodes of Mindhunter and had to chill out lol

Arliss Howard is also a favorite character actor of mine, solely for his role in personal favorite movie Tequila Sunrise, where he plays the idiot couson of Mel Gibson's Redondo Beach cocaine trafficker.

Finchers top 3 could be for me

The Social Network
Gone Girl
The Game
