Some people just make a lot of money from being activists, it's a job that does good plus gives clout, and it might be interesting. Not cause they actually give a fukk. And that's not just civil rights, all types of activists -- like pro-lifer, free speech etc (Although they might not do so much good (in their mind they do)).
Same with a lot of people (some of which are my friends) who work with environmental stuff, charities, international aid (like the UN/World Bank) and on.
Add rich fugazi priests to that group, they might be the worst example.
