As a Huge Superman fan ive always thought his status as just an Earth based hero severely limited him. Outside of Lex, all of his big bads come from space(Mongul, Darkseid..and all his mf lackeys, Braniac,Lobo,Zod etc..) Marvel took Thor off earth and asgard(which was just earth all over again) and put him and space and let him cut loose....and it worked!! Get Kal outta metropolis and off earth and let him shine as the cosmic level hero he was meant to be

Also...if they can make Captain America work for modern audience's then Superman shoud be easy

DOESNT HE GET HIS POWERS FROM THE SUN IN EARTHS SOLAR SYSTEM?

I think the problem is that a lot of Superman villains are 1950s story setups.

Alien happens upon Earth( Brainiac, Lobo, Zod) and hero rises to stop them or it’s Lex.

Most modern stories have the hero in some agency to the situation either cause they accidentally create the villain or create the situation that creates the villain.

Nah, he gets it from The Yellow sun...any Yellow sun, anywhere....which would theoretically make him wayyyy more effective in space...pure uncut solar radiation:wow:

that’d be fukking dope
I agree. shyt is crazy how DC publish/acquire MileStone Comics, but barely put out material besides Static. Granted Icon and rocket was in Young Justice.

Definitely would like to see Micheal B as icon

Darker yeah, but R? What else besides some gore associate with them lazer beams could warrant an R rating? I don't know if heightened violence, sex or language would really make for a better superman story.

If DC really wants to go 'dark', and even rated R without spamming the villan origin stories they should just do a live action Flashpoint.

I would lose my mind.

Man just give us a proper superman movie dont need all the extra ness of him being black :beli:

All these movies bombing pushing all the agendas. Studios need to just put out simple quality.

A Killmonger prequel/spinoff would be amazing :wow:

He could play one of the four existing Black Supermen in Dc Comics.

Black Superman 1
AjDC3XQ.png

Sunshine Superman is one of many forgotten heroes erased by the Crisis of Infinite Earths, and he and the rest of his teammates were erased from the continuity, until the Psycho-Pirate began reviving many heroes and villains destroyed during the Crisis.
During the second Crisis, Sunshine Superman was one of many alternate Supermen that had been recreated by Alexander Luthor Jr.. A newer version had been established as living in one of the new, 52 Earths created after the Second Crisis. He was a member of the Supermen of the Multiverse during the Final Crisis.
His name is a reference to the song "Sunshine Superman" by 60 Birtish pop star Donovan.

Black Superman 2

Kalel, also known as Clark Kent, from Earth-D is the leader of the Justice Alliance of America on an Earth that features more multi-cultural heroes than on the regular Justice League's Earth. Kalel and his wife Kara (Earth-D's Supergirl) left Krypton as adults. Both of them were killed during the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Black Superman 3

Calvin Ellis, Kryptonian name Kal-El, also known as Superman, is a Kryptonian president of the United States, on a different Earth in the Multiverse. Born to Jor-El and Lara in the science capital on Vathlo Island on Krypton, baby Kal-El was sent to Earth to escape Krypton's destruction. He was found and raised by a human couple. He became Superman in addition to being the president.
He operates from the White House, where Brainiac serves as his personal computer and even covers for him while he does his duties as Superman.

Black Superman 4

Kryptonian son of Dru-Zod of Earth 2, hidden by Terry Sloan in a cell beneath Arkham. Secluded for most of his life and developed a gentle pacifistic nature. Val became the lover of Power Girl and joined the Justice Society.

Calvin Ellis or Val Zod....thats kinda tough

Which do you think he fits better?

Lemme see a static shock movie tbqh

So the lesson of Joker is not take risk on lower budget properties like Static Shock that people remember?

It’s how to force Superman into relevancy with marketing gimmicks?

I've been saying this for the longest (the MBJ name drop and seeing this post reminded me of it)

But if they are interested in R rated comic book movies...

I'd do a Season 4 The Wire tone esque version of Static Shock

Pitch: Imagine Season 4 of The Wire mixed social commentary about what happened in Flint, MI. These kids were exposed to this substance and just left there.

In that they develop powers and take on secret identities in the community.

:ohhh: Yo. Facts.
I'd be in on a Superman/Lobo R-rated thing. Well. I'd be in on Lobo co-starring Superman, on some alien planet.
