I'm not saying limit the salary. I'm saying limit how much of the salary actually counts against the cap. So for instance a QB could still get paid $50 million a year but only say they can take up a max of 15% of the cap. So only 35 or 40 of it would count towards the actual cap space. It would still let QBs get paid and teams would've have to compete against each other for how much they pay QBs but it would open up more money for other players on the team.

The topic of discussion actually came up a few years back when Mahomes was up for his extension and I'm surprised that it hasn't been mentioned again since.

I assume that’s the Bills GM in that clip right. Hard to argue with the logic and that’s perhaps the dominant factor in football right now. You’ve got a 4-5 year window to win before you have to pay these 1st round picks. Not just QBs.

But there’s also the Mahomes example where an elite QB can turn decent players into weapons AFTER signing a big extension. So Dallas’ plan could have worked. The problem is that Dak is mediocre and the blueprint can’t work with that.

I don't know breh, Parsons looked like he couldn't do shyt against Trent. Don't know what the pff number says but the eye test said he was a brick wall.

Micah pff grade was 84. Trent was 73

Limiting how much a player can get paid is a bad idea

Weird cause it seems to be working really well for the nba...who absolutely limits how much a player can make, which is either a max or designated max salary.

Burrow
Allen

A tier:
Hurts
Herbert

Rodgers

B tier:
Goff
Cousins
Tua
Geno
Lawrence


However you number them from there I don't really have an issue with

Hurts is not in that 2nd tier. But I sure hopes he gets paid like it

These owners overpaying cac QBs while overvaluing the position (it is the most important position but they've OD'd on the QB's importance) has fukked up the game. Don't care how good the QB is, you have 52 other cats on the team. It's gotten stupid and now they're seeing the aftermath.

all you gotta do is show a HINT of promise as a cac QB and you get a bag with little to no pushback and hesitancy.

Many of us in the Dallas thread was screaming that he’s mediocre at best since 2018. We knew he shouldn’t have gotten a big contract. It’s outside the fanbase and of course the Dak fans that said pay him his money.
