I was thinking the opposite (only because I dont buy the story that Aldridge initiated the conversation). Knowing what we know now I believe it was always the plan to go after a big free agent this summer, hence the initial lower offer to Wade. Riley wasn't trying to get in the room with Durant in 2016, he was trying to get in the room with an Aldridge caliber player this summer.

I disagree. plus Woj and some others have said that it was LMA that reached out to the Heat, hence Riley flying over to LA to see him. I think Riley believes Bosh/Whiteside frontcourt is set for the future. Aldridge isn't some huge upgrade over Bosh. he has a slightly more varied offense, but isn't the 3 point shooter Bosh is and def isn't Bosh's caliber in pick and roll defense. and it wouldn't make sense to replace Whiteside with him. he doesn't want to play center and isn't the rebounder or rim protector Whiteside is.

I love Bosh but LMA is a better player IMO. He's basically Bosh but more physical.

Bosh is the better defender but i just love LMA's arsenal of back-to-the-basket move and midrange jumper has always fascinated me.

He's arguably better but it's not a significant upgrade over Bosh. It wouldn't really make a big difference.

I think he's just as good from 3. He just doesnt take as many as Bosh because he can dominate from inside and midrange.

But here's thing: Call me old-school but I'm not in love with the idea of my starting PF hanging around the 3PT line too much like Bosh does sometimes.
SF, okay fine... :manny: PF... get your ass inside the paint .
Thus why i dislike Beasley even more because i always envisioned him as a PF. I wish Bosh would go back to his CB4 Toronto Bosh spending more time in the paint and midrange.

Bosh's ability to space the floor and shoot 3s was the reason we were able to win two rings plus Bosh is our most consistent three point shooter now.

Whiteside, Deng, Cole, and Wade provide little to no shooting so Bosh goes out to that 3 to open up the lanes and attack. Otherwise, as I'm sure you remember, teams just load up the paint making Wade and Deng much less useful.

Our lack of shooting was why we were using Shawne Williams and Walker for spacing.
