I Love Lucy is a fictional tv show and at the time it was considered unique because they were an interracial couple. Also, it doesnt matter what cubans think being white means in america. In America, white is clearly defined as non hispanic which means they purposefully exclude latinos from "whiteness" as a matter of government policy.

Its still not clear to me why you want to pretend white people arent white cause of a language or country they were born in. They are saying they are Spanish for the exact reason that they are Spanish. And most Cubans white black or otherwise don’t have low self esteem and love being Cuban. I’m Cuban but not claiming I’m white cause I’m not. The people you are referring to are directly descended from Spaniards on both sides. That would be like you saying a person with English parents isn’t white because they were born in the US. You think something is magical about the island of Cuba?

They (esp cubans) and other white latinos harm black people moreso on a political level with policies, & economically (locking out of jobs). They also use classism, so ur experience will differ if ur a black proffessional versus a working class black man. But they won’t dare attack black people down here like they do in California or how the Latin Kings did in Chicago bc brehs in Fla hold their own.... so u probably had no issues hanging out and partying with them but it might be an issue if u want a job from them or want to live in their neighborhood.

This is exactly what ive seen from my experience down here. Latinos will be cool as fukk with u on a street/party level. When it goes for upper management and levels above that, the latino community in florida practices extreme systematic racism and they see nothing wrong with it.

When you say “don’t identify with black Cubans” what is it that you mean exactly? Blacks and whites Cubans are so close and intermingled I can’t even begin to understand what you are talking about. Do Cubans see skin tone yes, do Cubans think black Cubans as a separate cultural group, NO! The relations are extremely close to the point there really is no distinction. It’s not like the US at all...
