Bodyshot KO breh when the last time you watched Canelo?

I've seen all his recent fights. I'm not saying he's a bum. But there are some factors in this fight that are alarming for Canelo. For one....he's small. And I'm not even talking about weight. He's listed at 5'9", but if anyone that watched the Cotto fight will see, at the end of the fight they embrace and rest their heads on each other's forehead, and they are close in height (Cotto is barely 5"7"). Junior is a legit 6'1" coupled with the fact he's fighting with a 3-4 inch reach advantage. Junior isn't the best fighter in the world, but he has championship level pedigree and talent. He's literally walking into the ring with most of the advantages while Canelo fans are banking on soft factors like Junior being "lazy". Another thing Canelo does in the ring, which isn't a bad thing, is that he really prides himself on being a boxer. Unlike someone like Floyd, who's had experience of being the "smaller" guy in the ring, I don't think Canelo has ever been in a situation where he's being leaned on by someone much bigger. Sometimes skills go out of the window and you just have to fight. What happens when he's no longer on his toes and both guys are stuck in mud and just have to fight? Now add in the fact a "light heavyweight" will be leaning on you all night. I'm not sold on Canelo "gas" issue being fixed and I think he's gonna find himself in some deep waters this fight. I wouldn't be shocked if Canelo gets ko'd late.

Dan Rafael chat wrap 5/5 (Cinco de Mayo edition):

Canelo vs. JCC:
- Canelo getting KO'd isn't completely out of the realm of possibility.
- Personally doesn't see JCC winning. Canelo is more talented and faster. It might be competitive early, but Canelo separates himself as time goes on and wears JCC down, maybe even getting a late stoppage.
- If Canelo wins, strongly believes a fight vs. GGG gets made in September.
- Thinks Matthysse should win, but will be a good fight.
- Believes JCC draining himself is riskier than Canelo moving up in weight.
- Floyd vs. Canelo today? Floyd.
- Over/under 1 million buys? Under.
- Over/under 450k buys? Way over.
- Thinking 700-800k buys.
- Suspects Canelo will be under 164.5 lbs.
- Morales and Barrera (seem to get along fairly well now) both said that when two Mexicans fight it is impossible for it not to turn out into a good fight. The culture and pride is something most other fights don't have.
- Canelo vs. Sergio Martinez? Canelo.
- JCC camp is saying he currently weighs 1 pound over the weight limit prior to the weigh in.
- They are not gambling their purses vs. each other. It was all hype.
- JCC is probably motivated to hurt ODH's financial golden goose (Canelo) by beating him.
- Rates the undercard a B-. Diaz-Avila and Matthysse-Taylor are solid. Lemieux is in a mismatch.
- Doesn't think that the Fonfara fight is a reflection on JCC's chin. Fonfara was the bigger fighter and he has only been dropped once (and got up) in 50 fights.

agree...it falls into that intangibles things i talked about in the porter-berto thread

lucas will win..boxing needs it

well in their primes they werent fighting with struggle conditioning like canelo is, so thats why their fights were a million times better than canelo's

Lukie was saying he thinks something might pop off in Lemieux-Reyes..i kinda agree with him on that :patrice:

Which is exactly why I said a few weeks back that this fight to me seems eerily similar to..

He thinks canelo on fight night will only weigh 166 or 167?:dahell:

Im thinking 171-172. He goes up anymore than that then he's doing himself a disservice. Thing too is he's not having to cut as much anymore so he may not hydrate back THAT much.

I think he's going to be 160 on the scales and come in 175
