It's pretty common for Mexican women to be with white men but so is the reverse, so it's balanced at least

This Mexican guy makes a solid point. They want you to NOT identify with Native American even though many Mexican Americans are over < 35% native. If the Mexican population became part of the Native American population all hell would break loose and that NA number would spike like shyt. They don't want y'all claiming what little benefits NA have.

Mexicans aren't indigenous to the United States, though (but there are some tribes that overlap the US-Mexico border).

Yea but they can still be racial recognized as Indigenous Americans(continent) because thats what many of them are. They aren't magically not racially Native American or Indigenous to the continent once they cross the US border.

I agree that they're the same race but benefits granted by the the US government are based on membership of recognized tribes within the US borders.

But they can still identify as Native American on the census though, the description says "indigenous peoples of the Americas" or something to that effect.
