This been true for a minute, not just when it comes to turn based RPGs. PSO2 still shyts all over Square's garbage ass attempts at action RPGs like the Remake trilogy or... pffft.... that boo boo Strangers of Paradise bullshyt
... but only real ones been knowing the truth about that. 
Don't even get me started on Yakuza, which also whipping Square's ass considering how exponentially cheaper it is to make compared to their bloated, endless development cycle hell Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts monstrosities.
