Contra had me :gladbron: when it dropped.

Contra 3 multiplied that by 10.

But I enjoyed Metal Slug far more.

Gunstar Heroes is GOAT, if you drop the "this came first/nostalgia" arguments.... IMO.

Love the art style of Metal Slug but those games suffered tremendously from quarter eater gameplay...Bosses would start spamming an asinine amount of projectiles...
Yup.

I'm literally playing through the metal slug anthology on ps4 right now.

I'm 3 games in and these games are deeply flawed.

Yeah the sprites are cool and all that but these were strictly designed to eat quarters and that's it.

And playing through the anthology where obviously there's no quarters breaks the games.

There's sections where it's designed for you to die repeatedly.

The games do not hold up at all.

Contract is the classic ,but metal slug is the better game in the touch screen hand held environment, tho.

Metal Slug kept a nikka busy in the laundromat with my moms. :ohlawd:
She'd always give me the :stopitslime: face when I asked her more quarters. :mjlol:

Yeah, I played that on Wii years ago and was wondering how the fukk anyone could beat that in an arcade without spending ass loads of money. Just kept dying over and over.
The OG Contra arcade games were hard too but nowhere near as cheap. They were beatable on a few quarters

My nostalgia lies solely with the Contra series, if not for the experiences I had playing Contra The Alien Wars:banderas: (We called it Super C back in the day, since it was the first Contra game on the SNES despite there already being a Super C before that, If I'm not mistaken.)

Had I grown up with Metal Slug past just playing it in Arcades or the few times I played it on this one rich breh's Neo Geo console, I might have backed Metal Slug, but despite so many games in the Contra series being hit or miss after Alien Wars......Motherfukker, It's Contra Alien Wars!:damn: shyt made My Christmas and that subsequent summer.:whew:

I mean one begot the other. It would be obvious since Metal Slug took the Contra and refined it. It's the equivalent of putting Mario 64 vs Mario Galaxy
