Fyi, our data is bought and sold to various marketing vendors. If you've ever used any "free" online software, its free because we're "selling" our data to them. Banks, crediting institutions, retailers, etc can purchase pur data without actually needing us to interact with them. The only reason difference is government names aren't associated to those data packets they purchase. But if you know a person's ASL, net worth, purchasing and media consumption habits, you don't need much else to ID them or predict their habits.

And this shyt is all legal.

The real question is what happens to the porn. Is Meta going to allow porn and OF advertisements on their platform.

I don't think they'll allow porn since the app is associated with instagram. thats probably why they're emphasizing future data portability for when they ban those users and they can take their account info to a mastodon instance so thread users can still follow and communicate with them. that theory of what they'll do is half-backed since plenty of users who aren't sex workers have posted explicit pics in the comments.

never heard of that but that is a laughable notion. when elon bought twitter there was a poster arguing that twitter would be a threat to youtube. :mjlol:
