I launched the shopify a bit ago, but it's going pretty good. I have an instagram page with ~9k followers and I'm using that to drive traffic to the site. Am gonna run ads later in the fall. Most of my sales still coming on Etsy but slowly trying to transition it all over to the Shopify.

I started a shirt business on shopify, but I'm not getting anywhere near the traffic you are even running ads and having 16 thousands followers on Instagram. How did you do it?

Most of my traffic still comes from Etsy, but my Instagram drives the majority of of the Shopify traffic/sales. I think my peak on instagram is 800,000 impressions over a week, currently sitting at 222k reach and 617k impressions 7/17-7/23. I post both products and nonproduct posts to try and get people in, our non product posts drive a lot of the reach and follows, then I use product posts to market to those people. I was a bit lucky to fall into / find a niche market and that has helped out a ton. I had to close my first shopify after I got no traffic and I think the main issue was that market was too saturated, once I switched things got easier.

Some things that might help:
  • Make sure Instagram is a business account.
  • Are you running ads through facebook? One thing that I do when I run ads is use people who have visited my instagram page as the target.
  • Do you use shoppable posts on Instagram, this can be a pain in the ass to get approval for but helps drive traffic.
  • I just hit 10k and am about to start trying to use "swipe up" links on my stories are you doing that?
  • Do you have facebook pixel installed on Shopify?
Sorry you might already be doing all of this, but it's some things that have helped me on IG.
