Men without college degrees are dropping out of the workforce because they viewed their dead-end jobs as a threat to social status

Is it, though?

I feel like this is all internet shyt. In real life, all I see are nine-to-five men with good jobs finding women and having a couple kids or living the DINK life. There are a lot of childless couples with two incomes living the travel life out here.

I think a lot of this disrespect comes from a very small amount of people doing the most on Instagram and TikTok and all that.
It's not that at all

Wages are not keeping up with costs of living

Young people are taking a step back like...yo...my parents and grandparents made enough from their PART TIME jobs to pay for school, rent, have a whip, and still save so that when they got married (or knocked someone up) they could afford the down payment on a home and raise kids.

That shyt is a pipe dream for most in 2022. And when I say most, I means 90% of the populace.

In 2022 these people are being told that said "home" is an apartment crammed on top of everyone else, that they should get a bike instead of a car, and even worse...once you start becoming a high earner? YOU have become part of the problem, the capitalist pig crushing everyone else under their boot

Meanwhile, the rich keep getting rich, and those born into wealth will NEVER have to worry about any of that shyt.

There are project managers working in tech making tik toks showing how light and easy breezy their lives and jobs are, meanwhile you ain't getting that job without connections or getting into one of the top name schools, which BTW have become even HARDER to get into

I can't imagine what some of my little cousins are going through right now

Probably the same shyt I was when I was about to finish undergrad

Like....what fresh new hell is this???

The world is full of goofys in 2022 and it's all thanks to social media.
Worst thing to happen to damn near everybody is that pasty fukk Zuckerberg was born. Now we dealing with another pasty fukk named Musk having tantrums and being a role model in worthlessness at the same time he was the worlds richest man.

Society is fukked up, but on the low its always been fukked up, just differently.

All of this. I told my two boys that if this world continues in this shyt down trend, they can live with me and their mom forever if they wish. I don't blame anyone trying to make an honest living but can't even afford an apartment due to inflation and greed and the government is doing fukk all about it. fukk this country on the real

Although I don't agree with the premise that people are quitting minimum wage jobs with no plan outside of dereliction, the general 'disaffected men' idea makes sense.

I think there are a few strings to pull, such as a higher % of women historically getting degrees, and trade jobs slowly drying up. As the economy moves towards increased specialization, men are more likely to be left behind.

And the way that this frustration/irritation plays out is a pining for the jobs of yesteryear (see: most Republican talking points) or to hit the reset button on women's progress to even things out (see: most of the manosphere's definition of a 'real' woman). In that context, the growth of incels and misogyny online in the last few years feels less stochastic and more inevitable. It's very similar to how some white people pushback against progress of racial minorities.

You better name names pal

I was just referring to non-college educated white men in general, who support Republicans at high levels and think Reagan was some sort of massive boost to the US economy.

They're literally the exact group whose economic prospects were hurt most by Reaganism.

This is why the answer isn’t to do nothing and let these men spiral. People need jobs that have dignity, are meaningful and will help them live a comfortable life. That’s not driving Lyft, or grub hub, flipping burgers, et.

This nation has a fukked up infrastructure that not only hasn’t been maintained but is far behind major countries and countries that are developing. Instead of outsourcing these jobs to companies, the government needs to lead these projects and hire people. Our system of transport sucks. The roads are failing and we need to develop a lot more trains and subways, the US government needs to treat companies like CSX like they do Iraq and take them over and hire people to fix that. Unfortunately our elected leaders give no fukks about these things or even these people and probably see the radicalization of these men as a reason to step up the security state and beef up the prison industry.

I mean, capitalism sucks, that's all I'm getting from this thread. Also, as a man you shouldn't care what people think about you. Get that bread, doesn't matter how you get it. Never be embarrassed of making money.

Like if you're quitting ur job to get a better education and better yourself, that's great. If you're quitting your job because you think women will look at you funny, you're a fukking loser and deserve to starve.
