The year 3030
this wasn't downright terrible, but it wasn't really good either. Will was/is MIB...and this just proves you can't substitute him out. It's better than the Will less trash that was ID4 2, though.

Movie overall was boring...and didn't really feel like an MIB movie per se...H/M didn't really have the same dynamic and J/K. Pawny was annoying. Jokes fell flat for the most part

It would've been better if...
High T was actually Alpha from the cartoon...shyt I was kinda hoping he was gonna be it, that plot would've made for a better story

Other than that :ld:

Is it at least decent in IMAX? That’s the only way I’ll watch it this week. (With A-List. I wouldn’t actually pay to specifically see this movie)

it wasn't bad in dolby, there were a few scenes that made use of it

:francis: Damn I was rooting for Hemsworth too. Hopefully it does well internationally
That shyt is flopping here in asia. Barely even see any marketing for it, not like the last MIB where you saw HUGE billboards everywhere.

Without Will, it just wont work. and Tessa isn't an A lister. and I like her actually.

Will's version was funny but it wasn't a full out comedy. Just like alot of eddie murphy's early movies like boomrang weren't full on spoof comedies, it was just eddie that was funny in an otherwise serious plot.
But when they do these reboots they forget that and make it a completely different tone.
Think about Ghostbusters, the movie was hilarious and bill murray brought alot of humor. But everyone else pretty much played it straight.
The remake with women made everyone a damn comedian.

This one looks like it's going to make the same mistake. Will may have been funny, but Tommy Lee Jones told zero jokes and played it straight. so did the rest of the characters outside of some of the aliens (the pug and the sort aliens).

That's the problem with humor in movies in general these days, it's like everyone has taken their cue from Scary Movie 1 and 2 where everyone in the whole cast is a comedian. It used to be just one person was responsible for the jokes (aka the comic relief) everyone else was straight. There no such thing as comic relief anymore. They just try to make everyone funny and it never works. Imagine watching a Skooby Doo cartoon and everybody acted like Shaggy? :scust:

Powerful posting right here. This is exactly what's wrong with modern comedies, especially when you mentioned that Ghostbusters reboot.
This is why the original Friday was so classic.

Notice how Smokey was wildin out but Big Worm told zero jokes. He was a legit scary dude. Same thing with the other characters. Craig was a regular dude, but his father acted a fool. Deebo never told any jokes either. Everyone else being shook whenever Deebo came through... that WAS the joke!

In comedy, you need a balance between the straight man and the wise guy. If Friday were being made today, they'd have everybody in the whole film trying to act like Smokey :snoop:

On topic, I'll give the movie a C. It wasn't HORRIBLE to me, but it definitely wasn't particularly memorable either. The original MIB >>>>>>>>>>>

The Will Smith era is so nostalgic to me, and I remember the merchandise everywhere, the toys, the fast food cups and all that, the music videos and songs on radio, but the actual movie itself, even as a 12 year old was underwhelming.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to watch any of these movies, but I did hear Getting Jiggy With It in public the other day, and it was like a shot of bittersweet euphoria for a minute.

Anyone who didn't have Big Willie Style in 97 wasn't official lol

haven't seen it, but judging from the commercials, that little alien voiced by Kumail has to ruin this movie, right? not only does the voice acting just sound annoying, it looks like straight garbage
