Because thats what pays. No diff than college educated rappers acting like they cant read.

Usually its the good looking that get paid more so this is baffling. Even other Black women comedians have glowed up- Monique is a prime example. If Leslie (thats another thing, she needs a damn nickname) would lose just 15 lbs and get a glam team shed be an older Fantasia who imo is very attractive now.

I think shes scared to be pretty. Nicki Minaj had the same problem when she came on the scene. Too afraid of being rejected to glow, scared you'll look dumb and embarrass yourself. Sad.

I knew her years before she blew up, she's a very nice person, but she's made her fame being the unnattractive, unfeminine, large, loud Black woman and I'm sure it has hurt her prospects in dating.
yeah, i feel like the roles she takes on hurt her chances even more

self deprecating male comedian = guy everyone loves

self deprecating woman comedian = not as appealing

add in looks to the equations and issa wrap. imo she's the female equivalent of like a louis ck when it comes to comedians and attractiveness. that same acceptance is not there for women. no one to blame for that though, just life.

Yeah how she marketed herself is all perception and not what is probably there in reality.

She made her hair to wild 80's patti Labelle type.
before a different world and out all night Patti brought Patti back into the normal desirable vet black woman again phase.
One suggestion. I could give is she has to follow the steps Patti took as an actress.
to step away from how the record label look of Patti use to be off brand.

Monique was low key considered a caricture initially and after her "glow up" she hasnt been in anything big sense. Nobody wants to see the smart Monique.
