I think some women saw or heard what their grandmothers and mothers went through and are not signing up for it. Most people do not want to commit to mediocrity.
Think about as men we are taught to just provide and to act masculine. But we are not really taught in how to be great partners. Meanwhile, women are expected to cook, clean, birth kids, be a therapist and provide amazing sex.
