musical clearances most likely. lots of old MTV programming incorporated popular songs in the shows as soundtrack material and paying for the rights to either rebroadcast or put these things out on physical media cost $$$$$$$ in licensing fees. i watched a lot of these growing up till about 1995-96 when i started high school
and they had music all over them. it would cost a fortune to replay them.
