Meltzer knows his shyt but he is wrong about this one. the commentary sucks cause Vince is still at gurrilla position. Cole has even been pretty good at times on shows without the Vince influence.
The problem is Vince only knows how to book/Produce wrestling one way and this time there's no Pat Patterson, Russo, or Cornette to give him a true honest opinion about the corny shyt he likes to book. Every one now is yesman or there only gonna tip toe around him about the issue. It one of the reasons why Austin's show got kicked off the network.

I think it was really the Khashoggi angle that sent Dave over the edge, he wasn't too bothered about the first show really. The Prince has gotten major heat with the dismembered reporter booking.

Booker is more entertaining than anyone on commentary
Booker on commentary is the best color guy since Dusty, for mostly the same reasons (bonkers and hilarious nonsequiturs and saying shyt weird/wrong constantly). He has way too much personality for WWE commentary. I'm actually surprised they have him do the pre show panel stuff when he says wild shyt on those all the time, too.
yeah like i said booker was clearly the best color commentator they've had in years. he didn't even have to do goofy fake forced heel shyt, he was just entertaining, but i never had an issue with percy watson, same with otunga/saxton
i don't think they were/are great, but they weren't any worse than the white dudes doing it. all of the commentators are boring and castrated by wwe's shytty standards and rules.
i did think coachman sucked, but i think that was more because he was lazy and didn't know shyt about the product. i don't remember him being as objectively bad in the mid 2000s as he was when he came back. i think he was just bitter he lost his job in legit sports and had to come back to wrestling and didn't take it serious.

I mean he aint wrong when it comes to Beth Phoenix. Even if she improves, her voice is never gonna work on commentary. A shame Percy stepped away but with Renee Young in the way on Raw there wasn't really a chance to go anywhere else in the company. They aren't gonna put two brehs on Smackdown.

One thing I hate about WWE commentating is when the heel announcer (usually Corey?) is making a point for a heel wrestler, it's not like Lawler or Brain used to do, when they are like "yeah he's like this and he should be because fans are pieces of shyt"... They always explain away heel actions so logically like "yeah he's right, this number of things did happen to him, I feel sorry for him.. Why would I cheer for the face instead?!"
